My journey of mathematics started in Venezuela, where I obtained both my Bachelor and Master of Science in Mathematics, from Universidad Simón Bolívar and Universidad de Los Andes, respectively. I received my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from University of Alberta and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Canada. I have had the great fortune to be part of the AU (Athabasca University) family since 2007 as a faculty member in Mathematics for the Centre for Science, Faculty of Science and Technology.

Within the broad discipline of Applied Mathematics my research field has been mainly Mathematical Biology; with focus in the development and analysis of mathematical models to understand processes at the cellular level; specifically, the spatiotemporal dynamics of proteins within the cell nucleus, the mobility of proteins on the cell membrane, and the effect of radiation on the cell cycle.

Recently, I have become very interested in the field of Mathematical Psychology. Specifically, in the development of mathematical models, using differential equations, to understand psychological processes related to well-being.
