School of Computing and Information Systems - Why study computing and information systems?

Computing and Information Systems, as an academic field, encompasses two broad areas:

• Acquisition, deployment, and management of information technology resources and services (the information systems function) and
• Development and evolution of infrastructure and systems for use in organization processes (system development).

When you study Computing and Information Systems, you will explore both of these areas.

Once you have graduated from our programs, you will be able to develop, implement, and manage an infrastructure of information technology (computers and communications), data (both internal and external), and organization-wide systems. The knowledge and skills acquired in our programs will also help you in tracking new information technology and assist in incorporating it into your organization's strategy, planning, and practices. You will be better equipped for managing your departmental and individual information technology systems.
