Lisa Gray is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and a PhD candidate at the University of Alberta. Lisa completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of British Columbia's Student Counselling Services. She is an experienced clinician offering counselling services to individuals, families, and couples. Before becoming a Registered Provisional Psychologist, Lisa owned and operated a virtual private practice as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Lisa is also a Registered Circle of Security Parent Facilitator. In 2018, she was honoured to receive a Governor General’s Gold Medal.

Lisa was a sessional instructor for several years before becoming an assistant professor with the Faculty of Health Disciplines. She continues to strive for teaching excellence by pursuing additional training opportunities. Lisa is in the last phase of becoming a Graduate Teaching + Learning Program Scholar (a 4-level program) through the University of Alberta. Additionally, she collaborates with the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the University of Alberta on projects aimed to support instructor education and continued professional development.

Lisa’s doctoral research explores mothers' experiences of maternal guilt and shame and how these emotional experiences are expressed in the mother-child relationship. Lisa continues to expand on this area of research exploring how other factors such as cultural identities and social media influence mothers’ experiences of maternal guilt and shame. As a new faculty member, she is in the process of setting up her research lab, the PARENT Lab (Parenting and Education Research utilizing Emerging New Technologies).
