The Faculty of Health Disciplines is monitoring the ongoing and evolving situation regarding the confirmed Canadian cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Athabasca University takes its direction from federal, provincial and local health authorities.

It is important to practice Infection Control Procedures at all times. Please visit the Alberta Health Services website on Infection Prevention and Control to make sure you are ready and safe to see patients and/or to attend your clinical setting. Alternatively, you can check with your local/provincial/territorial regulatory authority or clinical placement site for direction regarding site-specific infection control.

Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health are providing updates as new information becomes available.

Health Canada has created a new Coronavirus information line (1-833-784-4397) as well as a national repository of outbreak updates and information for health professionals (spectrum of illness, transmission, detection and reporting, infection control and treatment).

The WHO has also published guidance on the clinical management of severe acute respiratory infection when novel Coronavirus infection is suspected, and has developed a central repository of information.
