Accessing services

The library offers a variety of services to support your research and learning. Here you will find the information you need to assist you in initiating access to services as well as guides, tutorials, and webinars to further enhance your learning journey.

Requesting materials from the library collection

Athabasca University Library’s collection includes both digital and print resources. Learners may borrow items from both the Main Collection, which is comprised of books and media sources, and the Course Materials Collection, which are items that are reserved for use by students in specific courses.

Renewing material

Items from the library collection may be renewed twice online through your My Library account if there are no holds placed on the item(s), your account is in good standing and hasn’t expired. You can also renew by contacting the library by email, phone or chat (during our chat hours).

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary Loans (ILL) is a service available to Athabasca University students, faculty, staff, adjunct professors and professors emeritus who need access to a resource not available in the library collections.

Reference services

AU Library’s reference librarians can provide support with your academic research goals, including helping you find materials for assignments and develop search strategies. If you need assistance you can contact the Library Information Desk by phone, email, or you can use the Ask About a Research Topic request form.

The library has also created a range of tutorials and subject guides designed to assist learners, faculty and staff and offer webinars on searching related topics.
