Awards, bursaries, and scholarships FAQs
Opening the door to post-secondary education for you.
Everything you need to know
Whether you receive top grades; balance academics with family, career, and community roles; or have unmet financial need; Athabasca University has a Student Awards Program that can potentially benefit you.
As Canada’s Open University, we strive to remove the barriers of learners who have unmet financial need and want to encourage any adults to reach for their academic goals. Therefore, the aim of bursaries at Athabasca University is to support students who need it most.
Much like awards, bursaries are a sum of money that may be granted to you based on financial need. They are not typically based on academic excellence and do not need to be repaid.
All awards managed by us require you to follow a specific application process as outlined in the description of each award you’ll find listed here.
